Beyond: Two Souls PC (Steam) – giftcardspo

It’s a great looking game with realistic characters, well rounded and emotional, especially from Page as the lead, and stunning graphics for the characters and lighting. The story is straight out of a Hollywood blockbuster but although told out of sequence, is still mostly predictable. Chronologically it flows better but because of its episodic nature, it’s never seamless and still jumps about tonally. Nevertheless, it is entertaining and interesting thanks to the ability to mildly shape the way it plays out.
Unfortunately, most of the game is style over substance. The controls and camera are awkward with unclear instructions, either due to the button prompt shaking about or not visible. There are no puzzle elements (except in the bonus levels, which are good) but plenty of conversations and quick time events; even a few stealth sections, but the poor AI and inability to fail any scene really hampers the enjoyment. There’s lots of mundanity which helps to shape the characters, but doing a second play through really shows how few of your choices actually matter. The ghost mode is a good addition but could have been used a lot more effectively.

Loved the story telling aspect of the game. The controls can become confusing at times but its just a matter of “difficulty” selection that you choose. Loved seeing Elliott Page in the game with their acting and dialogue.

Fantastic game, super immersive. Cant help but relate and sympathise with the charactors. Gameplay is amazing. Would recomend!! A***++++
